Tinubu Ignores Engineers, Professionals, Sends Comedians To Understudy India’s CNG Use

Scores of Nigerians on social media have condemned the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government for sending comedians and skit makers to explore the potential of compressed natural gas (CNG) and transitioning to gas as a source of energy grow louder in Nigeria.

The trip is also meant to understudy India’s CNG use.

It was gathered from the Presidential Villa that the four of the nation’s leading influencers and cultural icons— music icon 2Face Idibia; online and lifestyle influencer, Ola of Lagos; northern musician, Rarara, and Comedian Basket Mouth—are embarking on a fact-finding trip to India organised by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).

Otega Ogra, senior special assistant (digital/new media) to President Bola Tinubu and head of the Presidential Office of Digital Engagement, while confirming the trip, stated, “This is not about promoting policies blindly, but about showing Nigerians what’s happening on the ground and encouraging them to ask questions, engage with the facts, and shape the national energy conversation.”

Meanwhile, in a now trending video on social media, particularly on X, Nigerians condemned the government for ignoring engineers and spending money on sending skitmakers to do a check on CNG.

See reactions below;

@OurFavOnlineDoc: This is quite saddening tbh.

They didn’t send professors of engineering. They didn’t send PhD researchers and MSc students in technology from the country’s best universities. They didn’t send people who have the professional competence to analyse the innovation and recommend it for the public.

They sent Ola of Lagos who will come back just to roll on the floor and scream “put CNG in your car you will love it”.

What a shame.

@FrankoBarressi: This is what happens when we let touts handle the affairs of this nation. They’re hell-bent on defying the laws of logic.

Students nowadays are stuck between striving for good grades or making money.

it’s either Isaac Newton or Pablo Escobar.

@ImancheVic17188: Several times, I have tried to detach myself from happenings in Nigeria, but I just couldn’t. I guess it is because home is home. However, I am tired of the situation back home. How come the Oyibos care about development, & the black man cares about self aggrandisement? I tired!

@Jojo_Amandy: Nigerian politicians will not understand this grammar.

We are far off from common sense. Yes, it’s common sense, not rocket science.

@QUEENOFDBLUES1: APC Govt is a confused Govt but those supporting the useless Govt are the most confused people on earth.

Some people will still come under this your tweet and find reasons to defend the useless action of this useless Govt.

Pathetic!

@AsonyeEmmanuel3: Them no rate us for this country normally. How on earth will they invite comedians and skit makers to do quality check instead of enginers or professional mechanics
