Tinubu Mourns As Former Chief Of Army Staff Is Dead

Ali’s death was announced in a statement released via X (formerly Twitter) by the Nigerian Army’s spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.
Ali, who served as the COAS between November 1993 and August 1994, died in a military hospital in Lagos in the early hours of Sunday, November 19, after a brief illness.
Reacting to his death in in a release issued by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu described the passing of the former Chief of Army Staff as a painful loss, saying he served his country faithfully.
According to President Tinubu: “I condole with the Alli family and the Nigerian Army over the sad loss of the former Chief of Army Staff. He served his country with honour and retired meritoriously.
