Tinubu Speaks On Interruption Of Academic Activities In Universities

President Bola Tinubu has vowed to address the causes of incessant interrupted academic activities in universities across the country.

Speaking at the 2nd Convocation ceremony of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) in Ibusa, Delta State, the President, who was represented by the Director of Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Stella Ogochukwu, reiterated the commitment of the federal government towards the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff across the country.

While commending the Navy for its decision to use education as a tool to address national challenges, he lauded the management of the Institution as he described its uninterrupted academic calendar as a milestone.

“We are assuring you of the resolve of the FG to continue to pay premium attention to quality education at all levels”.

While giving his speech, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by his Deputy, Monday Onyeme expressed pleasure over the improvement made by the Institution in its short time of existence.

He lauded the management of the school for its achievements in Information Technology (IT), saying he was certain that the graduating students have been immersed in the knowledge of IT.

Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla appreciated patrons in the Navy for their immense contribution to the development of the Institution.

He commended the management for its role in nurturing a generation of leaders, saying ”we are happy you are investing in the future of our nation through investment in education”.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Paul Omaji, stated that in ADUN, integrity and respect for hard work are the guiding principles.

Earlier while delivering the Convocation lecture, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Navy, Yusuf Gagdi urged the convocation students to be resilient as he called on government at all levels to include youths in decision-making.

He further called on government at all levels to prevent another ENDSARS with involvement in politics and other activities that will ensure their creativity is harnessed.

During his valedictory speech themed “Be a solution”, Best Graduating Student, Victor Bodunrin urged his colleagues to take up challenges on the outside to be solutions.

“My fellow graduates, I hope you know that there are challenges out there, the time for complaining is over, it is time to be a solution to the problems of our society” he said.
