Tinubu’s Second Term Guaranteed – Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is certain, expressing confidence that opposition efforts to unseat him will fail.
Speaking at a special Iftar/Lent dinner organised by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja on Wednesday, Akpabio assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that victory in the next general election is guaranteed.
“Can we say amen! We will offer prayers for our party, that yes, indeed, victory shall be ours in 2027. Can we say a loud amen! And we will also pray for Mr President that his second term is assured. Can we shout a loud amen!” he declared.
He commended the Chairman of the PGF, Governor Hope Uzodinma, for hosting the event and encouraged party members to remain united to secure success.
Akpabio also pointed to the party’s growing influence, saying, “The entire country is becoming a one-party state under the APC. A few days ago, we appointed a senator to take charge of Edo. That is the beginning of taking over Edo State.”
Governor Hope Uzodinma, in his remarks, said the dinner was an opportunity for party members to reflect on their collective role in national development.
“Because we practice partisan democracy, and because we produce the government, we must take ownership of the government no matter where we are and where we sit,” he stated.
He described governance as a mix of good and challenging moments, saying, “We have had our good times and bad times, but in all, we are part of the system.”
Minister of Finance Wale Edun praised President Tinubu’s economic policies, stating, “We have already seen the benefits of bold and courageous decisions, and we are seeing the naira appreciate, inflation trending down, and the economy looking up. More importantly, Mr President has ensured that the government is looking after the most vulnerable.”
The event was attended by prominent APC figures, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Monday Okpebholo, and Francis Nwifuru, former Governor Yahaya Bello, former SGF Boss Mustapha, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, and other key party leaders.
