The rehabilitation of the Third Mainland and Carter bridges in Lagos will cost N21 billion and 25 billion, respectively.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed this on Friday during a tour of key infrastructure projects in Lagos with the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works.
The Minister said in order to avert a reconstruction cost of N6 trillion, there is a need to declare an emergency on the two bridges.
He warned of the substantial financial and safety risks posed by continued delays of the rehabilitation works.
“The cost of rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge is estimated at N21 billion.
“I want the National Assembly to note that this is the worst of our challenges on these two bridges. The cost of rehabilitation of Carter Bridge is N25 billion”, he stated.
