THE Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun, has said that its existence and activities are normal, rational and within the framework of the party’s constitution.
According to the group, the Osun APC needs reworking, retooling and re-energising, maintaining that all is not well with the party.
The group, in a press statement signed by its Chairman, Reverend Adelowo Adebiyi, chided the Caretaker Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun for saying it does not exist, saying such statement amounted to self-deceit and playing the ostrich.
“As a caucus within the party, as so constitutionally recognized, we owe nobody explanations how we run our affairs for as long as it is not in contravention of the party’s constitution.
“TOP therefore rejects Famodun’s insubordination of querying our right to have board of Trustees and state that it is within our fundamental rights to associate freely and lawfully”, said the group.
The objectives of the group, according to the statement, are: to promote internal democracy in the party, ensure effective and efficient party management, mobilise, reconcile and network for party development and promote equity, fairness and justice within the party.
Other objectives of the group are: to ensure transparency and accountability in the party management, foster level playing ground, no to imposition of candidates and initiate progressives and activities for party development.
The group said it is not true that it is working against Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, urging members of the APC and general public to disregard ‘such lie’ and reject crude politicians whose only stock-in-trade is to lie.
