Traffic Warden Arrested For Stealing Inspector’s Gun In Kwara

– As Police Command Parades 19 Suspects

The State of Osun Police Command has paraded a 38-year-old Traffic Warden Officer, Sergeant Haruna Yusuf, attached to Omu-Aran Police Divisional Headquarters, Kwara State for allegedly stealing an English Berretta Pistol from his station.

This is as the command on Friday paraded nineteen suspects over various offences bordering on alleged kidnapping, theft, armed robbery, murder and cultism.

Yusuf, a native of Benue state according to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode was said to have stolen the English Berretta Pistol from late Inspector Ehigimetor Ileso, his former station officer in January, 2019.

Olokode stressed that the late Inspector Ileso died as a result of his dismissal from the force based on the missing pistol.

The suspect according to the CP was arrested through one Tajudeen Hammed, a k.a. Rector, a leader of Aiye Confraternity in one of the tertiary institutions in Kwara State who bought the pistol gun and upon police search, he fled Kwara to Osun and was later arrested in Ede.

Speaking with newsmen during the parade, Yusuf opined that he sold the English Berretta pistol to one Eze Chukwudi at the rate of N47,000, claiming that he was afraid to confess to other officers when the Pistol was missing so as to not lose his job.

Other suspects include a 42-year-old man, Akeem Ogunibi who was arrested for Kidnapping a Bureau de exchange operator at Sabo area, Osogbo, one Hamzat Jamiu (23-yrs), Abayomi Atanda (32-yrs), Samuel Akanji (23-yrs), Kazeem Onaopepo (18-yrs) and James Oke (30-yrs) over Motorcycle theft.

Three suspects, Ajibade Faruq (23-yrs), Abiodun Olayemi (22-yrs), Wale Aworinde (25-yrs) were arrested over an alleged conspiracy, armed robbery and murder, one Azeez Adeyemo (45-yrs) was also paraded for stealing a Tricycle and Chinedu Dioha (21-yrs), Joseph Emmanuel (21-yrs) for snatching a Mercedes Benz with Registration Number: Lagos FST 707 GN belonging to their company in Lagos.

Also, six suspected cultists, Tajudeen Hammed a.k.a Rector (23-yrs), Chukwudi Eze (33-yrs), Alebo Isreal (32-yrs), Alebo Elijah (26-yrs)

, Abimbola Olanipekun (42-yrs) and Abiodun Olarinre (39-yrs) were arrested for unlawful possession of fire arms.
