Tragedy struck as two Isoko communities clashed in Igibide and Okpolo- Enwhe communities of Isoko South local council in Delta State in renews hostilities over a protracted land dispute, which left at least eight people dead.
Apart from the eight persons feared dead, several buildings have been burnt while scores of people from both communities have been injured and are receiving treatment in different hospitals.
Consequently, both communities have been deserted as many fled to neighboring towns and villages for safety and security due to recalcitrant youths of both communities who are bent on carrying out reprisals.
Ikpokpo noted that the endless panic, tension and large-scale destruction over a piece of land was cruel and inhuman, adding: “government will not tolerate the excesses and unbridled callousness of some blood thirsty murderers to ferment monumental havoc.” He appealed to both communities to ceasefire immediately.
