Tragedy Strikes Kano Commissioner As Fire Kills Daughter, Sister, Sister-In-Law
Tragedy struck as the Kano State Commissioner of Higher Education, Yusuf Kofar-Mata lost three members of his family to a fire outbreak.
The commissioner disclosed this in a statement on his official Facebook timeline on Wednesday.
He wrote, “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return! May God grant my daughter Maimuna (Islam), and my sister whom I follow, Hajiya Khadija and my elder brother’s wife, Juwariyya, death. Their burial will take place today, around 11 am (11.00 am), at Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Mosque in Kofarmata. May Allah have mercy on them, and forgive them, Amen O Lord.”
The deceased were his daughter, Maimuna; his elder sister, Khadija, and his brother’s wife, Juwairiyya.
It was learnt that the commissioner’s residence in the Kofar-Mata metropolis in Kano was gutted by fire early Wednesday while the family was asleep.
A family source said several valuables were destroyed during the unfortunate incident.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the state fire service, Abdullahi Saminu, said the level of damage and cause of the inferno could not be ascertained immediately.
