Trending Footwears
Footwears refer to garments worn on the feet, which originally serve the purpose of protection against adversities cause by the environment, particularly ground textures and temperatures.
Footwears likewise, footgears shoes therefore, primarily serves the purpose of easing locomotion and preventing injuries. Secondly, footwears can also be used for fashion and adornment as well as to indicate the status or rank of the person within a social structure.
There are so many footwears ladies like to invest in, as there are different types of footwears for ladies. Many ladies like to invest in different kind of footwears, because no matter how elegant you look in your outfit, a bad footwear can ruin your entire outfit and make you look stupid instead of giving you the compliment you deserve. Some of these footwears include high-heeled footwears, simply called high heels or heels, which are footwears that raise the heels of the wearer’s foot significantly higher than the toes.
Sandals: This is an open type of foot wear, consisting of a sole held to the wearer’s foot by straps going over the instep and, sometimes, around the ankle. Sandals can also have a heel. While the distinction between sandals and other types of foot wears can sometimes be blurry, the common understanding is that sandals leave most part of the foot exposed. People may choose to wear sandals for several reasons, and among them is comfort in warm weather, economy and as a fashion choice.
Ballet flats: There are shoes with a very low heel and a relatively short vamp, exposing much of the instep.
They are common for warm weather and may be seen as more comfortable than shoes with higher heels.
Athletic shoes: These are specifically designed to be worn for various sports. Since friction between the foot and the ground is an important force in most sports, modern athletic shoes are designed to maximise this force. Materials, such as rubbers are used. Athletic shoes are worn by male and female, although recently, these particular kind of shoes are not just worn during sports, but also worn for fashion purpose and are often referred to as sneakers.
Research revealed that the most common footwear amongst ladies in Osogbo, the state of Osun are sandals and ballet flats. During an interview with sone of the ladies she stated that she prefer to wear ballet flats to work and even to church because she doesn’t have an automobile and don’t see it appropriate or convenient to wear heels, trekking all the way from her house to the nearest bus stop where she would get a vehicle (Korope or bike).
In her own words, she said, “I love to wear heels because it makes every lady looks classy and adds glamour to my entire outfit, but I can assure you, it is not comfortable wearing heels to walk a long distance. So, because, I don’t like the idea of wearing slippers to work then changing it at the office, I manage to wear heels to my office straight away. For my Fridays, I prefer to wear sandals because I seldom wear sneakers”.
Similarly, these were the same responses gotten from most of the young ladies in Osogbo. While some claimed that it is as a result of not having their own vehicle, some said, it was because of the absence of taxi in the state.
So, there are so many trending sandals in Osogbo with different designs and patterns some of which are suitable for the weather (rainy season).
