1: Osun Governor’s Aide Accused Of Embezzling N1m Support Fund For Mohbad Tribute

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adeleke of Osun State on Civil Society Organization, Emmanuel Adebisi has been accused of embezzling a substantial support fund intended for the late singer Aloba Ilerioluwa, widely known as Mohbad.

The controversy according to information gathered by OSUN DEFENDER has sparked demands for transparency and accountability.

The medium learnt that Osun State government had displayed its support and respect for the late singer by allocating a generous sum of N1,000,000 to the Committee for Osun Justice for Mohbad.

This fund was intended to facilitate the organization of a fitting farewell procession in honor of the deceased.

2: 89 Bag First Class As UNIOSUN To Graduate 4,210 Students

No fewer than 89 out of 4,210 graduating students of Osun State University, Osogbo will bag first class as four thousand, two hundred and ten students would be awarded various degrees in the combined 12th and 13th convocation ceremonies of the institution.

Addressing journalists on Friday at the main campus of the university in Osogbo, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, also said the institution’s teaching hospital, donated by its Chancellor, Dr. Folorunso Alakija, has reached 97 percent completion stage.

Giving further details about the graduating students and class of grades they obtained, Adebooye said “First Degrees: 3,959, Postgraduate Diploma: 09, Masters Degrees: 229, Doctoral Degrees: 13.
“First Class: 89, Second Class (Upper Division): 1,326, Second Class (Lower Division): 1,818, Third Class: 470, Pass: 5.”

3: Staff Audit: Knocks As Osun Govt. Shuts Academic Activities In 12 LG’s

The directive by the Osun State Ministry of Education shutting down academic activities in public schools in 12 local governments in the state at the first week of resumption has met criticisms from different stakeholders in the state.

In a memo dated September 18, 2023 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. M.A Jimoh, the ministry ordered public schools in Ifelodun, Odo-otin, Boripe, Ila, Boluwaduro, Ifedayo, Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Obokun and Oriade local governments to suspend academic activities to allow the teachers to participate in the ongoing staff audit exercise.

According to the memo, students in Ifelodun and Odo-Otin local governments were expected to stay away from school on September 19, 2022 while those in Boripe local government were excused from school on Wednesday.

In Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo local governments, students won’t be in school today, Friday, September 22 and those in Atakunmosa East and West, Ilesa East and West, Obokun and Oriade local governments will also stay at home on Tuesday, September 26 and 27, 2023 respectively.
