1. Adeleke Calls For FG, States’ Collaboration On Economic Growth
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Thursday, called for collaboration between states and the federal government to find a way out of the current economic realities.
Adeleke, while speaking at the closing session of the 22nd edition of the National Council on Development Planning meeting, hosted by Osun in Osogbo, maintained that unity would enable the country to chart a course for sustainable and inclusive growth for Nigerians.
He said being the host state for the first time has provided a platform to further strengthen Osun’s partnership with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning which the government would leverage to engage with development partners for more benefits.
2: OAU Student Union Directs Students Not To Pay New Tuition Fees
The Students Union of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, have directed all students of the university not to pay the proposed new tuition fees.
This was disclosed in a letter signed by the President, Abbas Akinremi, Financial Secretary, Fasina Damilare and Public Relations Officer, Omisore Elijah, respectively after meeting with the student leaders on Wednesday.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the student leaders of the university met for an emergency meeting, held at the Student Union Building conference room of the university to deliberate on what to do about the new tuition fees.
3: Osun Assembly Recommends
OSEMSAS General Manager Suspension
The Osun State House of Assembly has requested the suspension of the General Manager of Osun Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OSEMSAS), Dr Olusegun Babatunde, pending the conclusion of the investigation of allegations levelled against him.
OSUN DEFENDER, however, gathered that the suspension came before Babatunde was issued a query, a development that left the General Manager surprised.
The house made the request in a letter written to the State Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina.
A statement by the spokesperson to the speaker, Tiamiyu Olamide, a copy obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, noted that a report of an audit investigation on the allegations against Babatunde revealed that there were payments made without documentation from the project account of the agency which accrued to millions of naira.
