1: Ifon/Ilobu Crisis: 28-Year-Old Admission Seeker Killed, Burnt

A 28-year-old admission seeker, Kudus Ibrahim was on Sunday killed and burnt at Okanala area in Irepodun Local Government of Osun amidst the communal crisis between Ifon and Ilobu communities.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that there has been a communal crisis on land dispute between the two communities.

Narrating how the incident happened, an uncle of the victim, Prince Jimoh Kadri who claimed he was the target of the assassination said some armed men invaded his house in Okanla area this morning, spraying gunshots.

He said, “I went out this morning when my wife called me that some people numbering about 20 wearing hoods came home with guns.

2: Averted Plane Crash: Adeleke’s Aide Says Aircraft Engines May Have Been Tampered

Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed on Sunday, said engines of the aircraft meant to convey the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke and some of his aides which caught fire last week Tuesday, were tampered with before boarding.

OSUN DEFENDER had reported that Adeleke and some of his aides on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, escaped an air crash when a private jet owned by billionaire businessman, Adedeji Adeleke (his elder brother) caught fire at the take-off point at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos State.

Confirming the incident in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Rasheed said contrary to reports, the highly technically equipped aircraft was well maintained with the best technical crew and was never an unused platform where birds could build nests.

3: Governor Adeleke Declares Curfew In Orolu & Irepodun LGs

Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reacted to the communal clash between Ilobu and Ifon communities, imposing curfew on the affected communities to enforce law and order.

The notice of curfew conveyed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Kolapo Alimi reads as follows:

This is to inform the public that the attention of the Osun state government has been drawn to the communal clash on land dispute between Ilobu and Ifon Communities.

Based on this, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that Curfew begins immediately in the two local governments: Orolu and Irepodun local governments.

4. Boundary Dispute: Osun Assembly Sues For Peace Among Ilobu, Ifon Communities

The Osun State House of Assembly has called for peace amongst the people of Ilobu and Ifon Orolu Communities over the renewed boundary dispute going on in the area.

The Assembly in a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Laide Lawal on Sunday said the Speaker of the House, Hon. Adewale Egbedun has appealed for peace to reign supreme among the people of the two communities.

The Assembly further appealed to the traditional institution in the two ancient towns to calm the situation within the communities that have been living as one family for ages.

They called on the general public to cooperate with the state government in its efforts to pursue communal peace among various people and groups of diverse interests in the state.
