1: Ifon/Ilobu Crisis: We’ve Arrested Suspects Over Admission Seeker Death – Police

The Osun State Police Command said it has arrested some suspects in connection with the killing of a 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Kudus in Okanala, Irepodun Local Government of the state on Sunday.

OSUN DEFENDER had reported that the victim, who was an admission seeker was killed by gunmen who attacked a house he was staying, shot him death, threw his body into a car and set it ablaze.

 

Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo on Monday, police spokesperson for the command, Yemisi Opalola, noted that normalcy had returned to the area while some suspects had been arrested

2: Tuition Fees Hike: OAU Students Threaten To Shut Down Campus

The Students Union of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on Monday threatened to shut down the institution if the authority of the University refuses to reverse the recent increments in their tuition fees.

The embittered learners added that the school authorities should be ready to face a massive student protest across the state for not compliance.

The Students Union president of the university, Comrade Abbas Akinremi Ojo, in a press conference held at Ken Saro Wiwa’s Building of the institution, thereafter, gave the school management five days ultimatum to reverse the status quo or find itself to blame.

3: Tinubu Appoints Okeniyi As OAUTH CMD

President Bola Tinubu on Monday, approved the appointment of Prof John Okeniyi, as Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The appointment was contained in a press statement signed by the Director of Information at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Patricia Deworitshe.

Prof Okeniyi’s appointment, according to the statement is for an initial term of four years with effect from August 24, 2023.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Daju Kachollom, who presented the letter on behalf of the Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof Ali Pate, reminded him of the responsibility of the office and the yearnings of the Nigerian people for an effective and responsive healthcare delivery system.
