1: Osun Police Urges Residents With Illegal Weapons To Submit To DPOs
The Osun State Police Command has urged residents of the state in possession of illegal weapons to submit them at any Divisional Police Headquarters nearest to them.
The police made the plea in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe on Tuesday.
The Commissioner said the move is in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to curb the proliferation of weapons across the country.
Longe said anyone who voluntarily surrenders illegal weapons in their possession will not be arrested nor detained, urging those with it to seize the opportunity to surrender such illicit weapons.
2:Olufon Stool: Ruling House Kicks As Govt Kickstarts Appointment Process
The Osun State Government has reportedly begun the process to appoint a candidate to fill the vacant stool of Olufon of Ifon, headquarter of Orolu local government of the state.
OSUN DEFENDER reliably gathered that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had written the Orolu local government to issue letter of nomination of candidate to the ruling house which is next in line to produce a new Olufon.
The local government, according to sources, has written Laojo ruling house to forward candidate to be appointed as the Olufon of Ifon.
But the development has sparked reaction from Oluyeyin Ruling House, which has rejected the process.
3: Quits Aviation Denies Tampering With Adeleke’s Aircraft Engines
The Management of Quits Aviation has refuted claims that it tampered with the Bombardier Challenger 605 aircraft, registration marks 5N-ATA belonging to Dr. Deji Adeleke, the elder brother of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
They insisted that the aircraft was under 24-hour security surveillance and CCTV footage showed no record of tampering as insinuated.
Osun Defender had reported that Adeleke and some of his aides on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, escaped an air crash when a private jet owned by billionaire businessman, Adedeji Adeleke (his elder brother) caught fire at the take-off point at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos State.
Confirming the incident in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Rasheed said contrary to reports, the highly technically equipped aircraft was well maintained with the best technical crew and was never an unused platform where birds could build nests.
He said engines of the aircraft might have been tampered with before boarding.
