1. Ifon/Ilobu/Erins: Group Urges Resolution Committee To Expedite Action In Solving Communal Crisis

A Pan-Political group, Dee Osun Monitors has appealed to the boundary dispute resolution Committee set up by the Osun State Government to look into the crisis in Ifon/Ilobu/ Erin-Osun to expedite action and bring lasting peace to the warring communities.

The Coordinator of the group, Prince Jide Akinyooye, in a statement on Friday, also urged the state government to further relax the curfew imposed on the warring communities, noting that it will bring quick socio-economic recovery and boost local businesses.

Akinyooye said finding a lasting solution to the communal crisis will foster community development, promote economic growth, and enhance citizen well-being.

2. FRSC Gets New Sector Commander In Osun

Leye Adegboyega has been appointed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as the new sector commander for Osun RS11.1 Command.

Mr Adegboyega, who assumed office on May 2, took over from Taofeeq Sokumbi, who has been redeployed.

The new sector commander, until his appointment, was the zonal head of operations at Zone RS11 Command Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun capital.

3. Osun 2026: PDP Women Leader Resigns

Ahead of the 2026 governorship elections in Osun State, one of the prominent grassroots women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs Ropo Adejuwon, has tendered her resignation from the party.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Mrs Adejuwon, who until her resignation served as the First Woman Leader of the PDP in Obokun Local Government, formally conveyed her decision in a letter dated April 29, 2024, and addressed to the party’s Ward 7 leadership in Esa-Oke.

In the letter, she stated unequivocally that her resignation was borne out of the party’s failure, particularly at the state level, to prioritise the welfare of the people in her immediate community.

“This resignation is consequent upon the failure of the Osun State ruling party, the PDP, to give any attention to the social well-being of my community and environ,” the letter read in part.

4. Osun PDP Chieftain Dumps Party

A renowned political strategist and respected stakeholder from Obokun Local Government, Osun State, Otunba Olujobi Ajibola has tendered his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Ajibola, who is a top aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, made his resignation public upon his return to the country.

In a formal letter dated 2nd May 2025, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of PDP, Ward 4, Obokun Local Government, he stated his decision to step down as a member of the party with immediate effect.

The letter read in part: “Please accept this as a formal communication of my decision to resign as a member of the PDP with effect from today, 2nd May 2025. I wish the party well in its future activities.”
