1. ‘It’s An Act Of Wickedness’, Osun Govt Criticises FG Over Withheld LG Allocations
•As Govt Taps Project Funds To Pay LG Workers
The Osun State Government has described the withholding of local government allocations by the federal government as an act of wickedness.
This was as the government said it has been using funds initially meant for its various developmental projects to pay different categories of workers who draw salaries from the local government allocation.
It would be recalled that the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada, has sued the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, at the Supreme Court over the Federal Government’s withholding of local government allocations.
The withheld allocations stem from the political battle between the PDP and APC in the state over the control of the local councils since the Akure Appeal Court judgment on the sacked chairmen and councilors was elected on October 12, 2022.
The APC elected chairmen said the court had reinstated them and returned to the council secretariats across the state.
The state government and the PDP, however, held that the court did not rule in APC’s favour, as the Osun State Independent State Electoral Commission conducted another election on February 21, 2025, where a new set of LG officials emerged.

2. APC Has No Strong Contender In Osun – Olajengbesi Backs Adeleke For Re-election
Pelumi Olajengbesi, the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, has said that all available indices show that the people of Osun State will again re-elect Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for another four-year term in the August 8, 2026 governorship election in the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Olajengbesi said the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not have a formidable candidate that can compete favourably with Adeleke let alone defeat the incumbent governor.
Olajengbesi, an hopeful for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, said the political numbers is in favour of Adeleke and not the APC.
