1. Aregbesola Mourns Late Olubadan, Describes Him As An Embodiment Of Culture, Tradition
Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has condoled with the Olubadan-in-Council and Ibadan community in general over the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin.
In a tribute personally signed and made available to newsmen on Wednesday, Aregbesola noted that the late monarch was an embodiment of culture and tradition, with enduring legacies of impact on his people.

2. Over 10,000 Landlords Seek FG, Adeleke Intervention Over ‘Illegal’ Demolition Plot
Over 10,000 landlords and shop owners in Osogbo, Osun State capital, have called on the Federal and State Governments to rescue them from becoming homeless as powerful individuals have commenced moves to demolish their houses and shops.
The affected victims added that despite an order of the State High Court instructing a stay of execution on the demolition exercise, thugs wielding arms stormed the Ifesowapo/Jaiye community to destroy several properties.
Speaking with newsmen at the Osogbo City Hall on Wednesday on behalf of affected residents, Mr Sola Omidiran disclosed that over ten thousand house owners were affected by the illegal demolition activities, which stretch over one kilometre on both sides of the road.
He narrated that some persons stormed the area sometimes in April with an order of enforcement on the land obtained in a suit numbered Hos/M.206/2024 between Mrs Mistura Busari v. Hepsibah Holdings LTD by Justice A. Oyebiyi which prompted the community to also approached the court to set aside the said order and also sought an interim order to halt the execution of the said execution of the writ of possession which was granted on June 3, 2025.
According to him, the court also stopped any action on the land pending the determination of all the applications already filed before it and adjourned till June 13 for further hearing, only for some hoodlums to storm the communities with hoodlums and illegally destroy properties and cause panic in the area on July 4, 2025.
Also, Muili Folorunso, the community Chief and member of Iyiolu Alare family, ancestral owners of the land lamented over the incessant harassment of individuals who have been house owners on the last for over forty years, calling on the appropriate authorities to prevail on the concern individuals to allow due process and justice to prevail.
3. Osun Court Jails 23-Year-Old For Theft
The Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Ilesa has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Ivarim, to one year imprisonment for offences bordering on conspiracy and theft.
The conviction, which followed swift action and thorough investigation by the Osun Amotekun Corps, has been hailed as a significant victory against grassroots criminality.
Delivering the judgment , Magistrate A.A. Ayeni, found the defendant guilty on all four counts under Charge No. MIL/201c/2025, and sentenced him to one year imprisonment on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The case stemmed from a series of coordinated thefts reported between May and June 2025 in Ijebu-Jesa, a peaceful community in Osun State. Victims reported break-ins resulting in the theft of valuable items, including gas cookers, television sets, mobile phones, a Bajaj motorcycle, and other personal belongings.
Acting on multiple complaints, operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, launched an intensive investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of Emmanuel Ivarim, a native of Plateau State, who had been residing in Osun.
He was charged to court on a four-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony and stealing, and during his arraignment on Monday, July 1,2025, he pleaded guilty to all the charges.
The prosecution, led by Mr. Oyedele Akintayo, legal officer of the Amotekun Corps, presented evidence establishing how Ivarim, alongside unnamed accomplices still at large, systematically carried out residential burglaries. The court, after reviewing the facts and the defendant’s guilty plea, adjourned for sentencing.
Upon reconvening, Magistrate Ayeni delivered a firm but balanced ruling, noting the gravity of the offences and the need for deterrence.
The one-year concurrent sentence was handed down to reflect the seriousness of the crime and the importance of upholding peace in the community.
Reacting to the conviction, Chief Adekunle Omoyele, Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, praised the judiciary for its commitment to justice and collaboration with security agencies.
“This conviction sends a strong message that Osun State will not tolerate criminal elements,” Omoyele stated. “Our operatives will continue to act swiftly and decisively to secure our communities. We commend the judiciary for its firm stance and fair handling of this case.”
The Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, also echoed the need for continued collaboration between citizens and security operatives. He urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly, stressing that community support is vital to the success of grassroots policing.
