Tension gripped Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Tuesday as suspected political thugs attacked and destroyed properties belonging to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the inauguration of the party’s new state executives.
The hoodlums, said to be acting on the instructions of a rival political party, vandalised the party’s Secretariat along Basiri Road, razing a newly decorated building as well as burning canopies, chairs, tables, musical instruments and a motorbike in the process.

Students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, have raised an alarm over the persistent case of armed robberies, targeting the university’s students’ environment.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Great Ife Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the Students’ Union lamented that the once peaceful student environment has been thrown into fear and uncertainty due to incessant attacks by robbers, particularly in off-campus hostels.
