1. Oluwo Advocates Sharia Law In S’West

The Oluwo of Iwo, Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has thrown his weight behind the plan to introduce Sharia law in the South-West.

Oba Akanbi said Sharia law has been in practice in Yoruba land for a long time.

This came after an Islamic organisation planned the inauguration of a Sharia council scheduled for January 11, 2025, at the Muslim Community Islamic Centre, Oba Adeyemi High School Road, Mobolaje Area, Oyo, Oyo State.

2. Owa Obokun Stool: New Osun Monarch Receives Staff Of Office

The newly appointed Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, was officially presented with the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment on Sunday, marking the beginning of his reign in a ceremony graced by distinguished Nigerians from various sectors.

Oba Haastrup, who vowed to combat land grabbing in Ijesaland during his inaugural address, received the staff from Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the presence of eminent traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.

3. Man Arrested In Osun For Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl In Ekiti

Operatives of Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a 34-year-old man, Oluwabunmi Anifowose, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at Efon Alaaye in the Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Ekiti Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Olu Adewa (retd.), said that the suspect was arrested on Saturday at a hideout at Ijebu-Ijesha in Osun State where he had run to in a bid to escape arrest.

Adewa, according to a statement on Sunday by the Head of Communications, Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Abiodun Adeleye, stated that information had it that the minor was sent on an errand to buy fufu from another street when she was accosted by the suspects and the consequent rape incident occurred.
