1. Adeleke Warns Trouble Makers Over Controversial LG Election

Ahead of next week’s controversial local government election in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised the alarm over reports of a ‘sinister’ plot by elements within the opposition parties to launch vicious attacks on council secretariats across the state including orchestrated onslaught on leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and top government officials.

OSUN DEFENDER had reported the back and forth between members of the ruling party and those of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) on the legality of the February 22, 2025 election, as well as skirmishes between both camps in the ongoing campaigns.

2. DOWNLOAD: Certified True Copy Of Appeal Court Judgement On Osun 2022 LG Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure on Monday February 10 sat and delivered judgement on a suit filed by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State against the judgement of a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, which sacked Chairmen and Councillors elected in the October 15, 2022 local government election.

While members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the judgement meant the reinstatement of the sacked chairmen, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) held that the judgement did not return the ousted officials, as well as did not cancel the conduct of the forthcoming February 22 council elections in the state.

3. Stop Politicising Judiciary, Accept LG Verdict – Osun APC Tells Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke to desist from politicising the judiciary and respect the recent Court of Appeal ruling that reinstated local government chairmen sacked by his administration.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, and obtained by Osun Defender on Thursday, the APC described Adeleke’s reaction to the court judgment as “a display of executive recklessness” and accused him of attempting to undermine the rule of law.
