The All Progressives Congress in Osun State on Wednesday said the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke were the aggressors in the ongoing crisis rocking the state.

This was as the party chided the chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, for alleging that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was planning to assasinate Governor Adeleke.

2. LG Crisis: Egbetokun Planning To Assassinate Gov Adeleke – PDP Alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has alleged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of planning to assassinate the governor of the state, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The PDP said the IGP’s deliberate deployment of Special Forces to escort the sacked APC chairmen into local government secretariats on Wednesday morning was a coup and disobedience to the order of the state governor.

3. Osun LG Crisis: Reps Set Up Investigative Committee, Seek Urgent Security Intervention

The House of Representatives has waded into the escalating crisis in Osun State, setting up an investigative committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the violent attempts to reclaim local government administrations by sacked officials.

At its plenary session on Wednesday, the House unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security heads to swiftly restore peace and order in the state.

4. Osun Assembly Condemns Alleged Forceful Takeover Of LG Secretariats By APC Chairmen

The Osun State House of Assembly has condemned what it described as a forceful invasion of local government secretariats by reinstated chairmen of the All Progressives Congress and their supporters.

The house also alleged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of working with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to perpetrate illegality in the state.

5. Sacked APC LG Chairmen, Councillors Resume In 14 Osun Councils

Three days to the scheduled February 22 local government elections, the All Progressives Congress chairmen and councillors elected in the October 15, 2022, election in Osun State have resumed in about 14 LGA secretariats across the state, OSUN DEFENDER reports.

This is despite the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission’s (OSSIEC) finalizing preparations for Saturday’s polls.
