Osun election petitions tribunal sitting in Osogbo has nullified the election of Hon. Bamidele Salam, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Ede Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives.
It also nullified the election of the PDP’s House of Assembly members in Obokun and Ede North state constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi and Kofoworola Babajide respectively.
It ordered a rerun election into selected units within the federal constituency and the state constituency.
The tribunal had in its ruling canceled some units in Ede South, Ede North, Ejigbo and Egbedore as a result of over-voting. The canceled votes affected the total votes of the APC and PDP candidate.
The elections are to be held in Ede North 3 units, Ede South 4 unit, Egbedore 3 unitd and Ejigbo 2 units for Ede Federal constituency.
For Obokun State constituency, the elections are to hold in four units in Esa Oke and Ilase.
Hon. Adejare Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had challenged the declaration of Hon. Salam (PDP) as the winner of the election in Ede Federal constituency.
Olatunbosun Oyintiloye of the APC also challenged the election of Adewumi in Obokun state constituency.
Also, Daud Akinloye of the APC challenged the election of Kofoworola of the APC.
