Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has spoken out after his release from Ekiti prison, where he was detained over allegations of defamation.

Farotimi, who was granted bail and perfected his bail conditions today, expressed gratitude to his supporters and reiterated his commitment to fighting against injustice.

Addressing his followers, Farotimi said, “I am not unmindful of the sacrifices you have made to be here today. May the grace of God find and locate you wherever you are.”

He acknowledged the difficulties of fighting against evil, but emphasized his reliance on truth as his guiding principle.

Farotimi quoted a divine message he claimed to have received, saying, “God told me very clearly, and I heard it very clearly… ‘The truth is enough. It is the only weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria.'”

He reaffirmed his commitment to truth, stating, “In my public advocacy, in my fight and my wars against this evil empire that we all live in, I have never lied against anyone. If I don’t know, I will say I don’t know.”

Farotimi’s release comes after he was arrested and charged with defamation over allegations made in his book, “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.” His case has sparked widespread concern among human rights advocates and supporters.
