The management of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has declared that its students have refused to pay the approved school fees which is non-compliant with the registration schedule.
In a memo obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, the management declared that any student who refuses to provide evidence of payment will not be allowed to take part in the institution’s mid-semester test.
OSUN DEFENDER had reported on January 4, 2024 that students of the polytechnic frowned against the increase in tuition fee announced by the institution’s management.
Many of them who spoke to the medium expressed their willingness to drop out of the institution if the decision is not reversed.
But in a statement on Friday, the management directed all students to proceed on a mid-semester break between February 7 to Sunday, February 11, 2024, stating that the period should be used to make necessary payments and registration.
The memo reads; “Management has noted with dismay, the non-compliance of many students to the registration and payment schedule released by the Institution. It is on records that many Students have refused topay the approved fees and conclude their registration on schedule.”
“In view of the above, Management has directed all Students to proceed on a mid-semester break between Wednesday 7′ and Sunday 11′ Febrwary, 2024. All Students are therefore expected to resume for academic activities on Monday 12′ February, 2024 when the Mid-Semester Tests for the 2023/2024 Academic would commence”
“For an avoidance of doubt any Student who refuses to provide evidence of payment shall not be allowed to take part in the Mid-Semester Tests.”
“All Students are therefore advised to use the period of the break to make necessary payments and complete the registration “
