Berlin police has reported that the Turkey’s embassy building in Berlin was attacked with paint, firecrackers and a smoke bomb on Tuesday.

According to reports, the guards at the embassy heard a loud bang around 6 a.m. (0500 GMT) and saw about four people in dark clothing fleeing the scene as a smoke bomb went off.

Authorities also noticed that several bags of paint had been thrown at the embassy’s wall.

The colours- red, green and yellow might have been intended to match those of the Kurdish flag.

The Kurds are an ethnic group prevalent in south-eastern Turkey.

The country has been in conflict with militants from that region for years amid a fight for more autonomy for the region.

A taxi driver also noticed a set of firecrackers ignited in bushes near the embassy.

Also, someone had laid barbed wire across an exit from the building.

Police said all access to the embassy has been blocked for now, while an investigation is under way.
