Two Injured As NULGE Members Clash At Workers’ Day
Two members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) were injured in a fracas that ensued among members of the union at the Workers’ Day celebration held at the Osogbo Township Stadium, Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday.
The NULGE members who were divided along interests on the 2025 election of the union threw decorum into the wind, leading to physical combat.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that some NULGE members who were reportedly supporting a presidential aspirant, Comr. Wuyi Isifade started singing abusive songs which were considered offensive by other members loyal to the incumbent President of the union, Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbamgbe.
Ogungbamgbe is said to be seeking another term in office in the 2025 state delegates election.
The songs generated commotion and later resulted in free for all among members of the union.
In the melees, two members of the union, Mr. Femi Oyeleke, and Mrs. Sofiat Raji, sustained injuries and were treated by the medical team offering free healthcare service at the workers’ day.
The medium learnt that some notable union leaders intervened and calmed the nerves of the NULGE members.
