Two Killed, Corps Member, Others Abducted As Gunmen Attack Bus In Ondo
Two passengers were on Saturday shot dead while five others including a female corps member, were abducted by suspected gunmen in Ondo State.
Fifteen suspected gunmen, according to sources, abducted the victims along the Ifon/Owo Expressway in the Ose Local Council area of the state.
Two other passengers reportedly escaped with various degrees of wounds sustained from gunshots.
The bandits were said to be armed with AK-47 rifles and ambushed the commuters at about 11 pm on Friday at Omi Alafa Village in the Ifon community.
They reportedly fired sporadically at the Sienna bus.
Eyewitness accounts swiftly reported the attack to police detectives in lfon.
One of the sources said the commercial vehicle was coming from Anambra State with passengers heading to Owo and Akure, the state capital when the incident occurred.
A police source said that the corpses of the passengers have been deposited at the morgue of a private hospital in Ifon.
The state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
Odunlami who said that the details were still sketchy, however, added that“our men are fully on the ground, combing the forest to ensure that the kidnapped victims are rescued.
