Two Lawmakers, Supporters Injured As Ortom’s Convoy Involved In Auto Crash
The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom’s convoy was involved in an automobile accident that left several people injured, including two members of the State House of Assembly.
The incident took place on Friday while the governor and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party were making their way to the Utokon community in the Ado Local Government Area as part of the party’s governorship campaign rally.
It was learnt that the incident happened when the driver of a branded bus carrying PDP supporters lost control and slammed into three vehicles a jeep, a security vehicle and another bus in the convoy.
Several people including state lawmakers representing Guma and Kwande West in the state assembly were injured.
The motorcade in the convoy consisted of the state’s deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu; Senator Abba Moro; House of Representatives members, and House of Assembly members from Benue South district; among other top government and party officials in the state.
Meanwhile, an ambulance attached to the convoy evacuated the injured persons to the hospital while the rest continued with the journey.
