Two Men Remanded For  Stealing At Osun Prayer Camp

An Osun State Magistrate Court, sitting in Ile-Ife, on Monday ordered the remand of two suspected burglars, Akinola Amodun (28), and Nwoko Samuel (30), over the alleged theft of iron worth #18 million.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Irewole Jimoh, the defendants committed the offence on September 28, 2025, around 2:00 am at Eleyi Area along Ife-Ibadan expressway in Ipetumodu, headquarters of Ife North Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Jimoh stated that the defendants conspired to commit felony, stealing and malicious damage.

He added that the two suspects forcibly entered a prayer camp with the intent to steal.

The prosecutor added that the defendants vandalized 24 H-beam irons and 22 angle irons, valued at N8 million, belonging to Prophet Adeyemo Olutope.

He also told the court that the suspects stole 24 H-beam irons, 22 angle irons, 24 iron plates and two storex , totalling N#10 million.

Jimoh explained that the defendants fraudulently received stolen property valued at #10million from Nwoko Samuel.

“The offence contravenes sections 81, 383, 390(9), 427, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002,” he added.

The defendants’ counsel applied for bail in liberal terms, pledging his clients would not abscond.

Magistrate Abosede Sarumi refused the bail application and ordered the two suspects to be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ile-Ife, pending consideration of the bail application.

Mr. Sarumi adjourned the case until January 12 and ordered it to be mentioned at the Ipetumodu Magisterial District.
