The controller of correctional services in Katsina, Muhammad Abdulmumini Haruna, on Wednesday, confirmed the escape of a suspected armed robber and car thief at the correctional centre.

Kala it was gathered used his phone while in detention to organise a successful car-snatching operation.
Haruna noted that escaping from the custody of security agencies was not something new.
According to him, “It is not something new for crime suspects to escape from the custody of security agents. We have seen that with the police and even the army who could shoot on the spot.
“It is true that two persons, who are awaiting trial, sneaked out of the correctional centre. I have informed our sister security agencies and even shared the information with motor parks, and fortunately, we have rearrested one while we are in pursuit of the other,” he said.
The prison authorities however assured that there was no cause for alarm as security agents were on the trail of the other suspect.
