Two Traders Arrested As Govt Demolishes Shops In Eti-Osa Market
Two traders have been arrested when the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, an agency under Lagos State Government, demolished shops built around Akiogun Road, Oniru in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a post on the official X handle of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday.
In a video sighted online, while the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps workers began demolishing the stores, some vendors could be seen attempting to save their goods.
The post mentioned that while conducting a morning patrol in the Lekki-Ajah area, personnel from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps dismantled several kiosks along Chevron Drive.
Tokunbo noted that following the eviction of the traders last week, they returned to the exact spot, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
He said, “While on monitoring and enforcement duty in the Lekki – Ajah axis this morning, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps noticed some street traders who were dislodged last week are now regrouping along Chevron Drive. The area has been cleared again and two people have been arrested.”
