Two Years After, Adeleke Engages 10,000 Youth For Imole Youth Corps
Two years after the Osun State Government dissolved the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday inaugurated and inducted 10,000 youth into the Imole Youth Corps.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that OYES was dissolved on February 16, 2023.
Former Governor Rauf Aregbesola started the OYES scheme and employed 20,000 youth as part of his 100-day celebration in office.
During his tenure, over 80,000 youths were engaged in the scheme.

However, the number declined after Aregbesola’s exit from office with his successor, Gboyega Oyetola, not maintaining the tempo.

During the ceremony held at Freedom Park, Osogbo, Adeleke said the occasion is “a major highlight of his administration’s push to address youth joblessness alongside other indirect steps to engage the youth across the sectors.”

A statement signed by the spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said Adeleke while addressing members of the Imole Youth Corps described the programme as “a transitional arrangement designed to provide opportunities for our youth” from all walks of life.
“Today’s gathering is a continuation of our efforts to provide job opportunities for our teaming youth. Ten thousand youths spread across the 332 political wards are engaged to provide services in the area of health, security, environment and education”, the Governor noted, assuring that “the newly enrolled Imole Youth Corps members are to be trained to deliver support services across the grassroots economy and other sectors”
The statement said Adeleke charged the corps members to demonstrate strong commitment in whatever sector they are assigned, tasking them “to justify the confidence reposed in you by working diligently in your posted areas”.
The statement further noted that Adeleke directed the Commissioner for Youth Development, Moshood Olagunju, to enforce the performance evaluation system to ensure that the goals of the program are realized, assuring the public that “the activities of the Imole Youth Corps will be subjected to regular performance evaluation.
