A fast-rising American UFC welterweight fighter, Belal Muhammad, is aiming to fight Nigerian-born American former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.
Muhammad views his potential fight with Kamaru Usman as the perfect opportunity to establish his legacy in the sport.
Muhammad has faced off against well-known sportsmen in the past and has had a steady upward trend throughout his UFC career. However, the stakes are always bigger when going up against a rival like Kamaru Usman.
Usman is still recognized as the top fighter in the welterweight division despite losing his title and is praised for his unrivalled wrestling, punching, and fighting tactics.
The matchup between these two interesting opponents is guaranteed to be exciting, even though it hasn’t been confirmed in full.
“I know the level I’m at, and I know I can compete with the best,” Muhammad said, as quoted by MMA Junkie.
“When I watch these guys like Kamaru Usman, I see areas where I can win. I see openings. I don’t watch him as a fan; I watch him as a competitor.”
He added, “This is about proving a point, showing the world that I belong in the cage with the very best. Kamaru is great, no doubt, but every fighter has their day, and I believe mine is coming.
“I believe that Usman is a much more difficult opponent than Covington or Edwards, and defeating him will not give me anything. I definitely won’t be given the title if I defeat him.”
