The University of Ibadan has appointed Professor Kayode Adebowale as the 13th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
This was announced by John Odigie Oyegun, the pro-chancellor and chairman, Governing Council of the institution in a press conference held shortly after the council screened eight candidates shortlisted for the exalted position in the university on Thursday.
The eight candidates who were shortlisted from the 15 aspirants were, Professor Adeyinka Aderinto, the acting Vice Chancellor Prof A.B Ekanola, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, Professor Ebenezer Olatunde Farounbi, Professor Babatunde Lawal Salako, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Professor Ganiyu Aderounmu and George Olusegun Ademowo.
Professor Kayode Adebowale, was until this appointment, the current deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the university.
He succeeds Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Recall, the process for the appointment of a substantive Vice-chancellor (VC) for the University started on May 18, 2020, with the approval of the council seeking applications from qualified candidates.
