UN Demands Release Of 110 Dapchi Schoolgirls And Many Other Interesting Newspaper Headlines Today.

The United Nations has requested the release of the 110 abducted students of Government Girls Science and Technical School Dapchi, Yobe state from their abductors. THE NATIONS reports that the Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he ‘ very much hopes that the perpatrators will be brought to justice and just as importantly, that the girls will be found and returned to safety’. The VANGUARD also reports the trauma of one of the girls who escaped the kidnapping who says that she isn’t going to school again. Mariam Muhammed Miko, 15, said though she wished to be a health technologist so has to help her, community, the horror she saw is just enough reason she isn’t returning to school. To make the search a lot more intensified, NIGERIAN TRIBUNE shows that the Military has employed the services of indigenous fishermen and farmers to search for the missing Dapchi girls. The Theatre Commander, ‘operation Lafiya Dole’ Major-General Rogers Nicholas, said the reason was to make the search a lot easier, faster and more serious. In relation to again to how seriously the military teams have taken the issue having employed the services of fishermen and farmers, THE PUNCH reports one of the quotes of the theatre commander who said ‘what this means is that nobody is sitting down. The government is serious about rescuing the missing girls. That is why the NSAis here to see things for himself and add value to what we are seeing’.

The herdsmen news is up again on the DAILY INDEPENDENT with the headline Outrage As Herdsmen Kill PDP Scribe, 24 Others In Adamawa. 30 people were injured, houses were burnt with residents fleeing the villages. Residents also reported that the assailants told them about the attack and they informed the Police about the information. The police combined with the military and swung into action killing 10 suspected herders, arrested six and recorvers AK47 rifles. The bill says, any person found guilty of any form of hate speech that results in the death of another person shall die by hanging upon conviction.

The Economic plans for the next election is what the BUSINESS DAY reports and it points to one of the 2019 presidential aspirants who outlines reform plans for Nigeria. Kingsley Moghalu said if he is elected President  in 2019 polls, the former deputy governor of the CBN will replace the current government’s N500billion social intervention programme for s similar-sized venture capital fund that will finance businesses and create jobs.
