1: Adeleke Restates Commitment To Improving Education In Osun
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke is committed to repositioning education in the state through teachers training, capacity building and recruitment of needed teachers into the state teaching service.
This was the position of Comrade Temitope Mustapha, the Chairman of the Osun State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM during his routine visit to Oduduwa Grammar School Ile-Ife and Modakeke High School in Modakeke to meet with teachers.
Comrade Adeyemi affirmed that Governor Adeleke is ready to address critical issues that will positively turn around the educational fortunes of the state.
According to him, the Governor has promised to implement the reccomendations of the recently concluded education summit report in utmost good faith.
2: Group Urges Osun Govt. Against Endorsing Thuggery
A civil society organisation, The Osun Masterminds, TOM, has asked the Osun State Government to critically look into sectors of the state to move it forward.
In an August state of the State address in Osogbo on Wednesday, the organisation identified security, state of critical infrastructure, subsidy removal palliatives and pension issues as grey areas the state government needed to look into and critically assess.
Speaking on behalf of TOM, the Executive Director, Professor Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli called on the state government to critically assess security in Osun.
In his words, “We want to state unequivocally that the state can only grow in a secure atmosphere where citizens can go about their lawful businesses without fear of attacks, intimidation or death.
3: FGM: We Are Achieving Positive Results With Support of NGOs – Osun Govt
The Osun state government said its efforts at stopping Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) were yielding a positive result, appreciating the United Nations Population Fund for supporting the government in the fight against FGM.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Jimoh Adekilekun made this known during a three days capacity building training for 40 in-school, out-of-school and physically challenged adolescent girls on using technological skills to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Osun State.
Osun Defender gathered that the training which commenced on Wednesday, September 20 and ended on Friday, September 22 was sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with Women Against Violence and Expectation Foundation (WAVE).
Adekilekun who was represented by Mrs Oyebola Adeoye while astonishing the participants, said the state government will leave no stone unturned in its fight against gender violence.
4: We Have Ensure Our Students Convocate Immediately After Final Exams – UNIOSUN VC
The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Prof. Clement Adebooye has disclosed that the institution has concluded plans to ensure final year students are slated for convocation immediately after their final year examinations.
Adebooye noted that final year students after completing their examinations in the second week of August will be slated for convocation in September of same year.
The Vice-Chancellor stated this at the 4th Candido Darocha Annual Memorial Lecture held at the Osogbo Campus of the University on Monday.
He said the institution before now is to slate students for Convocation in next year September after their final exams, adding that the University will seize to have her Convocation every September henceforth.
