In achieving its primary aim of creating and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit in the students of Osun State University while supporting them to set up profitable business ventures along their chosen profession before graduation, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies of Osun State University has kick-started plans to commence a 3-week entrepreneurship training for the 2019/2020 new students of the University between Saturday, 6th of February and Saturday, 20th of February 2021.
The Ag. Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies of the University, Dr. Florence Yusuf while speaking on the training commended the proactive and exemplary leadership style of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola, for his unrelenting commitment to the promotion of self-reliance, entrepreneurial spirit, acquisition of skills and development of capacity in our students.
“This 3-week introductory course will be flagged off with an opening ceremony on Saturday, 6th of February at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium of the University’s main campus, while the course will follow across all the colleges of the University for all new students to understand the concept of entrepreneurship and awakening their spirit on how to be a successful entrepreneur.
During the three weeks training, students would be exposed to series of vocations like Auto Mobile /Rewire, Mechanic, Panel Beating, Car Painting, Furniture Making, Paint Production/Painting, Screeding, Fashion Designing and Branding/Tailoring, Tie and Dye, Ceiling Technology/POP, Asbestos, PVCs, Concrete Work/ Interlocking Bricks, Block Making, Fancy Blocks and Metal Works/ Steel Works.
Others are Aluminum, 3D Technology /Floors, Plumbing, Event Planning/ Catering Service, Interior Decoration, Cosmetology/ Barbing, Hairdressing, Makeover, Spa, Leather Works/Bags, Shoe Making, Lunch Box, Photography/ Video Coverage, Photo Editing, Electrical Works/Wiring, Renewable Energy, Art Works/ Graphics Design, Artistry, Barbing, Souvenirs and many more.
Expected at the event are series of Guest speakers including the Managing Director of LAUTECH Business School, Chief Babajide Bewaji; the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Special needs in Osun State, Hon. Yemi Lawal; the Managing Director of Scottand Rusell, Mr. Kayode Dagiloke among other entrepreneurs to enlighten the new students on the relevance of these vocations,” Dr Yusuf added.
