UNIZIK Probes Alleged Assault After Student Bit Lecturer

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has launched an investigation into an altercation between a third-year student, Goddy Mbakwe Precious, and a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, after she allegedly bit and physically attacked him during an examination.

OSUN DEFENDER reported that the incident, which occurred at the university’s Faculty of Arts, reportedly started when Dr Okoye accused the student of examination malpractice. The situation escalated when she allegedly bit him on the chest and engaged in a physical struggle before being restrained.

A statement by the Acting Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, Njelita Louis, confirmed the university’s stance on discipline and assured that appropriate actions would be taken based on the investigation’s outcome.

“The University assures all concerned that appropriate actions will be taken upon the conclusion of the investigations.”

The university said the matter, which has gone viral on social media, is being taken seriously as it seeks to maintain discipline within its academic community.
