I just read a piece by The PUNCH columnist, Niyi Akinnaso, on the unfortunate occurrence at the zonal programme organised by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, on the raging debate on “restructuring”, in Akure, on Thursday, September 21, 2017. I was utterly disappointed at the writer’s barely disguised slant to explain away acts of brigandage, in his characteristic hagiography entitled, “Unnecessary thuggery in Ondo at APC restructuring forum” in the September 26, 2017 edition of the paper.

Sunshine Stars coach Duke Udi has slammed the fans of his former club Osun United for the violence that marred their second leg Aiteo Cup match at Ijebu Ode on Saturday.
No fewer than 20 persons reportedly sustained serious injuries while a number of vehicles were destroyed during the fight between suspected Osun United and Sunshine fans. According to witnesses, the invasion of the pitch by suspected Osun United fans after the referee blasted the final whistle led to a free-for-all. Sunshine won the game 3-1.
Back Page : Fighting Islamisation of Nigeria
The Christian Association of Nigeria is, for the billionth time, raising sanctimonious alarms against the perceived Islamisation of Nigeria. This time, the charge is that the Federal Government wants to sneak in an “Islamisation” agenda through floating a Sukuk Islamic bond. CAN, with a righteous indignation, claims that Nigeria is a secular country and the government ought to be taking a neutral stance in matters of religion. It argued that that using legal mechanisms to promulgate the issuance of Sukuk is tantamount to a violation of the secular spirit of the Nigerian constitution and should, therefore, be nullified.
