Unpaid Salaries: Ekiti Workers Obaserve Three Days Fasting And Prayers

The striking workers of Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, under the umbrella of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) have adopted spiritual means in a bid to press home their demands.

According to the striking workers, the three days fasting and prayers was arrived at to fast track quick response and payment of their unpaid salaries, allowances and other entitlements by the government on the believe that nothing prayer can’t do.

Recall that before the workers embarked on the ongoing strike, they have lamented severally on the inability of the Ekiti State Government and the hospital management to pay their salaries, allowances, and entitlements, which the government refused to addressed.

The Chairman of the striking workers, Comrade Omotola Farotimi, on Tuesday shortly after the prayer session publicly told Journalists, that they would continue the strike until all the Union demands are adequately addressed.

Omotola in his statement, said, “We are seeking the face of God, we need him because things are not easy for our members.

“We believe that with God all things are possible, our issues will be resolved in no time for no one can underrate the power of God, that is why we call on Him to heal our land.”

Both the Chapter and State Chairman of the Union (JOHESU), passionately appealed and urged the government to also include the renovation and equipment of the Dental and Opthamology building and all other departments in the hospital that needed to be equipped with modern working equipment for better service delivery of staffs.

The Chairmen affirmed that they had earlier met with the leadership of the Ekiti State House of Assembly which they believe can mediate as a result of the prolonged strike with the hope that the issues would be resolved before now but no solutions had been found till date.

The striking workers called on Ekiti indigenes and Nigerians to show undiluted understanding and solidarise with them in this hard time, for the fight is for the good of all if achieved, as they believed it will.
