UPDATE: Attacks On Gbolarumi’s Residence Not Political – Oyo Police

The Oyo State Police Command has said the attack on the residence of a former Deputy Governor of the state, Hazeem Gbolarumi, was not politically motivated.

Valuables, including vehicles and other property worth millions of naira, were destroyed on Saturday when suspected hoodlums reportedly attacked Gbolarumi’s private residence located at Asi in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Ibadan.

Findings indicated that no fewer than ten persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in separate incidents recorded across parts of the state during the unrest.

However, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, dismissed claims linking the incident to the ongoing congress crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“A yet-to-be-identified hoodlums launched attacks on the residence of the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Hazeem Gbolarumi. The coordinated attacks have nothing to do with the state congress,” he said.

Ayanlade added that the police had commenced investigation into the incident and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
