Vandalisation: It Is Your Duty To Safeguard PHCs In Your Communities – Adeleke To Traditional Rulers
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised alarm over the increasing vandalization of newly renovated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state, calling on traditional rulers to take ownership of these vital community facilities.
Speaking at a briefing session with the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers on Thursday, Adeleke expressed concern over the destruction of solar panels and water supply systems in PHCs, warning that such acts undermine his administration’s efforts to improve healthcare access, especially for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
.
The governor emphasized that PHCs play a critical role in delivering quality healthcare at the grassroots level and that all services in these centers remain free.
He urged the royal fathers to encourage their subjects, particularly pregnant women and nursing mothers, to take advantage of the healthcare services available to them.
“Healthcare is a fundamental right, and my administration is committed to making sure every citizen has access to quality medical services.
“But we cannot do it alone. Community leaders must help in ensuring these facilities are protected and utilized effectively. I remind our fathers that they have a responsibility to safeguard these health centers within their communities.
“The issue of vandalization is becoming rampant, and we must take decisive steps to prevent further damage, Adeleke said.

Addressing the ongoing local government leadership crisis, he reaffirmed that no court has ordered the reinstatement of the sacked local government chairmen in Osun State, describing recent actions by the opposition as an attempt to destabilize the state.
He clarified that the Federal High Court had nullified the Yes/No local government election held under former Governor Gboyega Oyetola due to non-compliance with the Electoral Act. The affected chairmen, he stressed, were removed before he assumed office in November 2022.
The governor also criticized the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police for advising compliance with what he called a “non-existing court order.”
While reiterating that the Supreme Court’s ruling in a similar Rivers State case had validated the Osun local government sack, reinforcing that the Yes/No election was illegal, the governor accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating violence by forcefully occupying local government secretariats, despite having no legal basis.
“The Court of Appeal did not issue any order for reinstatement. Even if such a request was made, the court described it as an academic exercise and declined to consider it.”
