VIDEO: APC Members Caught Buying Votes In Okitipupa LG

Some party members allegedly belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been caught engaging in vote buying in the ongoing Ondo State governorship election in Okitipupa local government area.

The party members were caught on camera handing over some Naira notes to voters after confirming they have voted.

Also seen in video is an exercise book which is believed to contain the list of voters waiting to be paid or who have been paid after voting.

Challenged by a man believed to be a security operative on why they are handing out cash to voters, the APC party members led by a man in his fifties denied the allegation, trying to woo him into settlements.

Earlier, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Bamidele Akingbola, had alleged that some political parties are involved in vote buying in the ongoing election.

The candidate spoke after he voted, saying some voters were being induced to pick some parties.

He spoke in an interview with a TVC correspondent at the polling unit 010, Olaleye Headquarters, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

He said: “I voted here as a candidate 10 mins ago and I sat down there, some of group of people came in here, and started telling them where to vote, it’s not proper, it’s not proper.

“What I want to see is orderliness, we need it here, if you finish your vote, leave where you finished voting and sit somewhere else.

“The contention now is that, there are some groups of people telling the other group (the electorate) where to vote, and they’re paying them there.

“They’re there with POS, they’re paying them there.

“Everybody here wants to vote for me but they’re trying to fringe it.”
