[Video] Bobrisky: Drama As Lawmaker, Kirikiri Controller Argue Over Suspension

There was drama on Monday at the National Assembly during the probe into the allegations of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, and the Nigerian Correctional Services, NCoS.

The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and reformatory institutions investigating the allegations which came to the the fore when a social media influencer, Martins Otse a.k.a Verydarkman posted an audio where an ex-convict, Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) allegedly said he paid N15m to bribe his way out of the money laundering charge against him and didn’t sleep in the cell while serving his jail term.

While appearing before the committee, the deputy controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sikiru Adekunle, who had earlier been suspended, denied the rumour that he was suspended by the service.

Osun Defender reports that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board suspended some officers of the agencies over alleged infractions on the matter.

The suspended officers, according to a statement signed by the secretary to the Board, Jaโ€™afaru Ahmed, include Senior Officers of the Service – Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State; and
ii. Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.

But Adekunle, while answering questions from one of the lawmakers, said his suspension was not valid.

According to him, he only read his suspension from the news, adding that he has not been served a suspension letter nor has he been replaced by another person.

Adekunle opined: โ€˜It was a social media report. I wasnโ€™t served a letter,โ€ he said.
