Video: ‘Oyetola Withdrew When He Knew He Couldn’t Win’, We Don’t Want Oluga – APC Members
Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, have rejected the aspiration of a former House of Representatives member, for Ayedaade/Isokan/Irewole Federal Constituency, Hon Taiwo Oluga to return to the Green Chamber.
The members in a viral video, warned the leadership of the party against giving the ticket to Oluga.
The incident, as gathered, happened last Thursday during the visit of the former lawmaker to leaders of the APC in Ikire to formally declare her intention to contest the 2027 election.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Oluga represented the constituency between 2019 and 2023 before he was defeated by the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Oladebo Lanre.
Oluga recently resigned his appointment as the Federal Commissioner (South West) of the National Assembly Service Commission.
The resignation, according to her was in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu on public office holders with political aspirations ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
In one of the videos, a member of the party who did not mention his name but spoke in Yoruba was heard saying, “We don’t want Oluga again. We don’t want a woman. You are thieves we don’t want to see you. Otoge (enough is enough”.
In another video, another member of the APC at the meeting, urged the party leaders not to sell them out.”
The APC member who also spoke in Yoruba, used the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, as a reference, noting that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy decided not to contest again when he knew he couldn’t win and instead, presented the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Mr Bola Oyebamiji.
He said, “To our leaders don’t sell us out because of what you want to eat. When Oyetola saw that he could not win Osun election, he picked AMBO. So, Oluga also should not contest.”
