A police sergeant in Edo State, Abraham Uzuobo is facing disciplinary action for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl detained for receiving stolen goods.
The incident occurred at the South-Ibie police division on October 10, 2024.
Osun Defender learnt that Sgt. Uzuobo allegedly sneaked into the cell after Inspector Edith Eduma stepped out briefly, unlocked the cell, and took the teenager to the admin department, where the alleged rape occurred.
In a video of the incident obtained by Osun Defender, the policeman was caught off guard with his pants down, scrambling to dress as he argued with the policewoman handling the case, while the suspect remained on the floor.
An insider revealed that Inspector Eduma suspected foul play upon returning to find the cell key missing. She raised the alarm, leading to Uzuobo and the teenager being traced to an administrative office.
Instead of reporting the incident, Inspector Eduma informed her husband and two fellow policemen.

She allegedly accepted N45,000 from Uzuobo to conceal the crime and later blackmailed him for N1 million to prevent the video from being posted on social media.
Both Uzuobo and Eduma face dismissal after an orderly room trial. Police Public Relations Officer SP Moses Yamu promised to issue a statement but remained noncommittal when asked about the incident’s veracity.
This incident follows another reported rape case in Lagos State, where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Officer Owolabi at Ogudu Police Station.
