The victim in the audio said while two of them transferred N100,000 each, the other person was forced to transfer his Bitcoin of $842.
He said, “They snatched my phone and searched it. They went through my conversations with my brother and, after that, asked me where I got money to buy a car.
“I told them it was not my car but my mum’s. One of the Officers asked me to give them N10m and I told them I don’t have that kind of money.
“I told him I could only give him N50,000, but he said no. The officer continued searching my phone until he got through to my account. He saw that I had N116,000 in my bank account. I told him I would give him N100,000 out of the money, but he still declined.
“He told me to call people to send money to me. He had me call my girlfriend to send me N200,000. Fortunately, she already knew I was with the police because the moment the incident started, I called my mummy who also informed my girlfriend.
“But my girlfriend said she doesn’t have the money. After speaking with me, they went to the other guy and asked him to transfer N100,000 from his account to mine since I have an ATM card. So, they asked me to give the guy my card to go and withdraw the N200,000.
“Unknown to us, they’ve searched the third guy’s phone and saw a Bitcoin of $842 and they told him to send everything out.
“The policeman got a wallet somehow and sent it to that guy through WhatsApp to transfer the Bitcoin. The moment the guy sent the whole Bitcoin, the police officer made sure he cleared the whole chat so that there would be no proof that he collected the coin from him.”
Reacting to the incident on X, the Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigation is ongoing on the matter.
