I’m Protesting Against Senator Natasha Because My People Said She Is Stubborn – Woman

Some Pro-Godswill Akpabio protesters have narrated the reasons why they are supporting the senate president over the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

OSUN DEFENDER had reported that there was chaos at the National Assembly on Wednesday as supporters of the Senate President and those backing Senator Natasha clashed in front of the assembly complex.

The tension escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan stormed the premises amid protests by her supporters demanding Akpabio’s resignation, as well as a counter-protest by pro-Akpabio demonstrators.

The senator representing Kogi Central had recently accused Akpabio of sexually harassing her during a visit to his residence in December 2023 and again when she sought answers about her Ajaokuta Steel motion.

She had also previously clashed with the Senate President over her seating arrangement, alleging that she was deliberately isolated from other senators.

As Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived at the protest scene near the Mopol gate, her supporters erupted in cheers, waving placards with messages such as “Akpabio must go” and “We stand with Senator Natasha.”

The protesters, including members of civil society groups, insisted on a thorough investigation into her allegations.

Meanwhile, a rival group of pro-Akpabio demonstrators staged a counter-protest, holding banners with inscriptions like “We say no to Natasha’s serial blackmailing” and “Akpabio treated Natasha as a daughter and friend.”

In some of the videos posted on social media, some of the pro-Akpabio protesters gave their reasons for supporting the senate president.

In one of the videos, a woman who was interviewed on why she was supporting Senator Akpabio said, “Akpabio is a good man. I’m protesting because I want Senator Akpabio to win the position”.

The woman who spoke in Pidgin said even though Senator Natasha did nothing to her, she was not supporting the Kogi Senator because of her stubbornness.

“I don’t want Senator Natasha. She no do me anything but I no want her because their people said them dem be stubborn people and we know need stubborn people”, she stated.

In another video, another pro-Akpabio protester said she only came out to protest because they asked her to do so.

The woman also confirmed that she didn’t know much about the ongoing issue between the two senators.

She said, “Why I am supporting him is that I didn’t see any wrong about what they are saying. I don’t know much about what they are saying. I’m just supporting him because my mind led me to support him.

“I don’t really know the whole story. Why I came out today is because they said we should come out and support Akpabio to remain as our Senate President”.
