Hibernian defender Efe Ambrose says he is not disappointed over by the coach’s decision to ommit his from the 28-man squad released by the Super Eagles for the friendly games against Poland and Serbia later this month.
The South Africa 2013 AFCON winner said he is focused on his team’s crunch Scottish League tie against Hearts on Friday.
Hibernian are with 48 points and are currently 4th on the table from 28 games while Hearts are fifth with 39 points from 29 matches. Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen are in the top three positions with 64, 58 and 52 points respectively.
“We have to further extend the gap between us, because league is a marathon, we must keep pushing to meet those at the top and avoid those coming behind to near us. Hearts are very good, we expect a tough match but we are ready,” Ambrose said.
He added, “I am focused on my club’s games and will keep doing that till I have another opportunity to prove myself in the national team. I have had a great run in the Eagles, I played with most of those in the team now and I even scored as well.
“There are thousand if not millions of players doing well but only few will be invited. I am used to how it works and as I said earlier, I am focused on role at Hibernian.”
